FAQ

Are your Thangkas hand-painted or printed?

Every Thangka we offer ishand-painted on cotton canvasusing traditionalmineral pigments— not printed, not mass‑produced. The artists follow centuries‑old iconographic guidelines, often spending weeks or months on a single piece. This is why each Thangka carries a unique energy and slight variations in color or pattern, which are part of its handmade beauty.

Can I return a Thangka if I change my mind?

Due to the hand‑painted and sacred nature of Thangkas, we donotaccept returns or exchanges for change of mind. However, if your Thangka arrives damaged or defective, please contact us within48 hoursof delivery with clear photos. We will offer a full refund or a free replacement (you will need to return the damaged piece; return shipping cost is your responsibility unless the damage was caused by our error). For full details, please see our Return Policy.

Where do your Thangkas come from? Who paints them?

Our Thangkas are painted in Tibet by master artists — each one highly skilled, with their own distinctive style.

Unlike mass‑produced prints, every Thangka we offer is an original hand‑painting. The artist’s name and stylistic approach are described in the product listing, because we believe the creator matters as much as the creation.

Some masters specialize in fine brushwork and gold detailing; others focus on bold, expressive lines or deep, rich mineral colors. You’ll find the specific artist information and style notes right inside each Thangka product page.

Every piece is unique. Every artist is acknowledged.

How should I care for and display my Thangka?

Thangkas are sensitive to humidity, direct sunlight, and dust. We recommend:

  • Framing behind glass (with a mat to keep the fabric off the glass) for protection and easy hanging.
  • Avoid hanging in kitchens, bathrooms, or places with strong sunlight.
  • If not framed, roll the Thangka (never fold) around a soft cylinder and store in a dry, dark place.
  • Dust gently with a soft, dry brush — never use water or cleaning chemicals.
Why is there a price difference between Thangkas?

The price reflects several factors: size, complexity of the composition, amount of gold detail, quality of mineral pigments, and the artist’s experience. A large Thangka with intricate gold work and many deities will take months to complete and cost significantly more than a small, simpler piece. We offer a range to accommodate different budgets while ensuring fair compensation for the artists.
